Quick-thinking good Samaritans stepped in and successfully prevented a toddler from being kidnapped in San Francisco.

Local police released a statement on Tuesday, April 16th, detailing how a popular Australian disc jockey grabbed a two-year-old child who was on the street last Friday.

Thanks to the intervention of residents, police officers managed to arrest Roscoe Bradley Holyoake (34), of Perth, Australia.

The child was clutching his mother’s hand while walking along a street in the Castro neighborhood when Holyoake snatched the boy. Holyoake ran for about half a block with the mother and several bystanders pursuing him. Luckily, some bystanders grabbed and held him until police arrived at the scene.

Holyoake appeared briefly in court on Tuesday and was ordered to return to court on Thursday so as to enter a plea. Steve Olmo, who is the attorney representing Holyoake, said his client has no criminal record and was in San Francisco on business.

According to AP, Holyoake remained in prison on $500,000 bail.
