UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson had vowed to reach a withdrawal deal with the European Union next October, Reuters reported.
"This government will not delay Brexit any further" Johnson said.
Johnson’s move came after British lawmakers voted for the second time against his bid to hold an election in mid-October, before the European Union summit on October 17th, as well as the Brexit deadline on October 31st.
"This government will press on with negotiating a deal, while preparing to leave without one," Johnson told the parliament.
He added: "I will go to that crucial summit on October 17th, and no matter how many devices this parliament invents to tie my hands, I will strive to get an agreement in the national interest."
