Afghan Security forces have killed three bodyguards of an Afghan parliamentary candidate in a raid on a house near the candidate’s residence. The incident took place in the eastern Kunar province on September 30th.
Abdul Ghani Musamem, who is a spokesman for the provincial governor, said two suspects were arrested during the raid which took place late on Sunday evening.
The Parliamentary candidate, Atallah Safi, is running as an independent candidate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for October 20th. Safi was unharmed when security forces raided the house, close to his.
So far, five candidates have been killed in the run-up to the campaign period.
According to AP, there was no immediate comment from security officials about Sunday's raid.
