The very first Emirati and Arab astronaut, Hazzaa Al Mansoori, had taken us on his first ever tour of the International Space Station, marking the first time in the history of space exploration that the UAE has made its first human space flight.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre has published a short film on its YouTube channel, recorded by Al Mansoori during his space flight. In it he talks about the International Space Station and his activities on board.
In the video, Al Mansoori explores the different areas that make up the station and explains how they help the astronauts in performing their daily tasks on board.
Al Mansoori begins his video by showing us the crew’s main quarters and explaining the astronauts’ living conditions in space. Then he shows us different areas that are dedicated to spacewalks and how astronauts perform and conduct the maintenance work on the station.
The first UAE astronaut also introduces the scientific laboratories in the International Space Station, where astronauts study and conduct most of their scientific experiments. Then he shows us the storage area of the station and where astronauts sleep every day.
The tour then moves to the kitchen on the station, where astronauts prepare their food and shows how they consume it and then Al Mansoori shows us the main command control unit in the International Space Station from where the astronauts run the station.
Finally, Al Mansoori then takes us into the training room of the International Space Station, where astronauts perform and apply pressure exercises to their bodies in order to avoid muscle atrophy and shows us how astronauts in the International Space Station keep their bodies fit and healthy on board.
