Al-Sisi, Mohamed bin Zayed Witness Opening of Giant Military Base South of Red Sea

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan have witnessed on Wednesday, January 15th, the opening of Berenice military base, the largest in Red Sea region and MENA, Egyptian Presidency spokesman ambassador Bassam Rady said.

Berenice military base is located in Northern of Halyeeb and Shalateen triangle, Southern of Red sea. This comes within the framework of the state’s plan to secure all the strategic directions of the state. The new base covers an area of 150,000 acres and includes a naval base, an air base, a military hospital, number of combat and administrative units, fields of shooting and training for all weapons, and the base also includes a commercial platform, passenger terminal, in addition to Berenice International Airport and a station to desalinate sea water. 

Furthermore, president Al-Sisi will witness the concluding stage of “Qader 2020” military drills. The military exercises will be attended by a galaxy of Arab and foreign leaders, including Saudi Arabia's vice minister of defence Prince Khalid bin Salman, Minister of Defense Lt. General Mohamed Zaki, Armed forces Chief of Staff Lt. General Mohamed Farid, as well as a number of ambassadors and military attaches. 

“Qader 2020″ comes as an affirmation on the Egyptian Armed Forces’ strength and readiness to secure the nation’s capabilities and wealth.
