Arsenal are set to play Napoli in the first leg of the Europa league quarter finals at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday April 11th.
Gunners manager Unai Emery spoke at pre-match press conference and said he knows his side had to get a good result to take to the away-leg in Naples next week. According to Sky Sports he said: "We are going to play at home with our supporters and we know we need to win.”
He also spoke of the importance of not conceding an away goal.
"Our first target is to win, but also we don't want to concede chances for them to score. That's important. We know they have good players and also have had good performances in the season.
Emery is also hoping both Granit Xhaka and Laurent Koscielny will be fit as they both face late fitness tests. Long-term absentees Danny Welbeck, Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin are all set to miss out. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Arsenal’s leading goal scorer this season, is in doubt after struggling with illness recently.
Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti in his pre-match conference spoke about his disappointment with the way his side played in the 1-1 draw against ten-man Genoa at the weekend.
"We're defending badly at the moment, even when it was 11 against ten, and that means we cannot control the game," said Ancelotti.
"If you control the game, you don't allow counter-attacks, you don't let the opposition to turn and run at you. It's an alarm bell, certainly, because if we play like this in London, then we're in trouble."
The Italian side will have both Amadou Diawara and Raul Albiol out with injury but Lorenzo Insigne and Faouzi Ghoulam have returned to the side in the weekend 1-1 draw at home to Genoa. Kalidou Koulibaly is also back after missing out in the second-leg last 16 match against Red Bull Salzburg.
The second-leg is set to take place on Thursday April 18th.
