A roadside bombing has killed eight children in the northern Faryab province of Afghanistan.
Karim Yuresh, the spokesperson for the provincial police chief, said an additional six children were wounded in the blast, which occurred late on Friday September 21st in the Shirin Tagab district.
Two of the wounded children are in a critical condition and all the children are between five and 12 years old. According to the Associated Press, the children were playing when the explosion occurred.
Although no one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, Yuresh blamed Taliban insurgents.
