Israel's prime minister has said Brazil is set to move its embassy to Jerusalem. In a statement on December 30th, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said it is only a matter of when, not if, the move is made.
Netanyahu made the statement during a meeting with Jewish community members in Rio de Janeiro. The prime minister is currently in Brazil to attend incoming President Jair Bolsonaro's January 1st inauguration. Adding further support to Netanyau's claim is a tweet from Bolsonaro last month in which he said that he intends to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem once he is in office.
Several Arab states have protested the announcement, with threats to boycott Brazilian goods. According to AP, only two nations have moved their embassies to Jerusalem - the United States and Guatemala.
