A high-ranking police source on Wednesday November 20th announced the arrest of businessman Yorgen Fenech, over involvement in the murder of a journalist in 2017, according to AFP.

The suspect was arrested while trying to leave Malta on his yacht, a day after Malta’s prime minister promised an alleged middleman immunity from prosecution if he endorsed the investigations by identifying the mastermind of the assassination and giving legally binding evidence.

Investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia was killed in a car bomb near the Maltese capital Valletta, months after she claimed that a company, allegedly owned by Fenech, was linked to Maltese politicians, but she did not provide any evidence.

In December 2017, two months after the assassination, police arrested three men suspected of carrying out the killing, but who it was who ordered the assassination is not known, according to Reuters.
