Dereck Chisora has launched an expletive rant at his own promoter Eddie Hearn in the press conference for his upcoming fight with Joseph Parker on October 26th.
The 35-year-old British heavyweight was angry at his fight being on the undercard of the junior welterweight title unification bout between Regis Prograis and Josh Taylor. The fight is the final of the World Boxing Super Series with the winner taking home the Muhammed Ali trophy.
Despite this, Chisora felt his heavyweight clash with Parker should be headlining the event, and he threatened to pull out the fight unless Hearn makes him top of the bill or give him more cash.
"Give me main event or pull me out of the show," he shouted.
"I'm not going to sell out the O2 for them guys to be the main event. I'm being serious, you want me to sell it out to the London crowd, my London fans, then put these little guys that no-one knows about on my show and mug me off.”
"I'm taking the main stage, if not I want more money."
At one-point Prograis interrupted to Chisora to tell him that he and Taylor were the top two in their division, but he was quickly shouted down by the Zimbabwean born British heavyweight.
"No-one cares about you, don’t get me started" he added. "I'm tired of selling shows and not making money so give me some of the money you are making. Boxing is thriving with the heavyweights, the big guys in the top 10.”
Chisora who never received a direct reply from Hearn to his questions later walked out in the middle of the press conference. It is not yet known if the rant was a publicity stunt to gather more attention for his upcoming fight or if he really plans to pull out if his demands are not met.
