Egyptian army spokesperson Tamer El Refai said on Tuesday, January 14th that a military jet crashed in one of the training areas, which resulted in the death of its pilot, adding that the cause of the crash was being determined.
“In the context of implementing the training activity of the Air Force today 14/1/2020, an aircraft crashed in one of the training areas,” the statement read.
Earlier, El Refai released a video of the “Qadeer 2020” military exercise named “Protecting a Homeland.”
Armed forces units from the army, navy, air force, and air defence forces, in addition to special forces units from the Sa’aka (Thunderbolt) Forces and airborne paratroopers, participated in carrying out a number of training activities, including strategic operations on the Red and Mediterranean coasts, according to an earlier statement.
The statement noted that a number of live ammunition exercises would be executed, proving the armed forces’ ability to secure the nation’s interests and deal with all hostilities.
