A plane operated by the Czech airline Smartwings made an emergency landing Thursday, July 11th shortly after taking off from Budapest to Hurghada in Egypt after a landing gear malfunction, the Hungarian news agency MTI and Reuters have reported.

The plane, a Boeing 737-400, returned to Budapest and landed safely without reported injuries, the agency said, citing a spokesman for France's Notre Dame Airport. The plane was carrying 151 passengers and crew of nine.

Smartwings is the largest Czech airline and one of the fastest growing airlines in Central Europe, according to the company's Web site.
