Rodger Federer bounced back from his opening day defeat to Domonic Thiem to beat Italian Matteo Berrettini in straight sets on Tuesday, November 12th. The 38-year-old was not at his fluent best but managed to sneak out the victory 7-6, 6-3.

The Swiss star will now play Novak Djokovic on Thursday, November 14th in a repeat of the Wimbledon final earlier this year.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner was pushed all the way to a 6-6 tiebreak by the Italian in the first set. Federer began to show his class in the tiebreak and forced Berrettini into mistakes to win the game 7-2 and win the set.

AFP reported that Federer said he wanted to play Djokovic in order to avenge his Wimbledon defeat. "It's good for me to play him again and to get a chance to get him back, but I'm here for the World Tour finals, not Wimbledon finals."
