Serge Gnabry has fuelled the rumours of his German teammate, Leroy Sane, joining him at Bayern Munich this summer according to AFP reports. Speaking ahead of Germany’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Estonia on June 11th Gnabry said the Manchester City star would add to more quality to the German champions. "I would love to have him at Bayern. I am having fun playing with him and he would be an improvement for our team."
Sane has had an impressive season with Manchester City, winning the domestic treble and scoring 16 goals in 47 appearances. But the 23-year-old found himself on the bench often during the latter half of the season as Pep Guardiola opted for Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva in the wide midfield positions. It is believed that the German forward has grown frustrated with his role and reports are linking him with a move back to the Bundesliga.
AFP also reported that another Bayern star and German teammate, Joshua Kimmich, had spoken to Bild newspaper and urged Bayern to sign Sane. The 24-year old said Sane would, "suit the club perfectly."
After a horrid performance in the 2018 World Cup, manager, Joachim Loew, announced earlier this year that he will relieve some of the senior stars from international duty to give a chance to the younger players. This new-look, young side Germany has rediscovered its touch this year with Gnabry, Sane and Reus leading a dynamic front three.
"The way the three of us rotate, with any one of us able to drop deep, makes it very difficult for teams to defend against us," said Gnabry on June 10th.
"It didn't work out last year but this year we are looking better. We have known each other for longer now, which makes it easier," he added.
