Hundreds took to the street in Hong Kong on Wednesday, June 12th, trying to occupy an arterial road near the government’s headquarters to protest a controversial extradition bill that would allow people to be sent to China for trial, reported Reuters.

Authorities were alerted for a new wave of rallies after the city witnessed its largest protest in 15 years to oppose the bill.

Human rights groups have reported the alleged use of torture, arbitrary detentions, forced confessions and problems accessing lawyers in China, as the courts are under the full control of the Communist Party, as reasons why the Hong Kong bill should not proceed.
