Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reiterated President Vladimir Putin’s warning of deploying weapons in several areas globally, in the case the US withdraws from the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), at a press conference Wednesday March 6th.
The conference was held jointly with HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, and International Cooperation in Abu Dhabi, whereby Lavrov also, addressed another topic for Russia, which is the Syrian situation.
“Ending the Syrian crisis in a way that maintains its unity and ensures safety of its soil is a necessity”, he said.
Meanwhile, Lavrov added that his country did not discuss with the chief of the Syrian opposition’s negotiating team, Nasr al-Hariri, the means of separating the Syrian opposition from Jabhat al-Nosra battle filed in Edlib.
“We are looking forward to a full coordination with the UAE in all regional issues,” added Lavrov during the press conference elaborating that, “Russia is eager to promote its relations with the Gulf states. We highly value the UAE’s positive role in Libya and its efforts to achieve peace between fighting factions there.”
Moreover, when asked about the arms race, Lavrov said that his country is not willing to participate.
