The Libyan National Army spokesman, Ahmed Al-Mesmary, in a press conference held on Thursday July 11th, said that the Prime Minister of the Government of National Accord, Fayez al-Sarraj, serves as the political front for the armed militias.
He argued that the anti-terrorism battle will continue until terrorists in Libya are exterminated. He said that the Benghazi attack went against every human and moral norm, as it targeted mourners of a funeral. Al-Mesmary added that the attack bore the imprints of terrorist organisations. He [Al-Mesmary] pointed finger at Turkey, namely President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, holding him directly accountable for the terrorist bombings in Benghazi.
A car bomb had exploded during the funeral of an ex-army commander in the Libyan city of Benghazi on Thursday, killing at least three people and wounding 15, a hospital said.
A security official said the attack, the first in over a year in the bastion of Libyan military strongman Khalifa Haftar, targeted servicemen at the funeral of Khalifa Al-Mesmary, a special forces' chief under Libya's ousted leader Muammer Gadhafi.
