Liverpool are back at the top of the Premier League after a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at Anfield, Liverpool's home ground. Goals from Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum and Mohamed Salah gave the five time European champions the victory.
Salah looked lively early on as one shot at goal was saved and another went wide, the home side dominating possession of the ball. The breakthrough finally came in the 24th minute as Mane headed the ball past Artur Boruc from a cross by James Milner to give Liverpool the lead.
The Reds began to dominate as Roberto Firmino got close before Wijnaldum scored, doubling Liverpool's lead. The Dutch midfielder beautifully controlled a long ball from Andrew Robertson before lobbing it past the goalkeeper. Salah nearly added a third just before half time but was kept out by a fantastic save by Boruc. Half time score 2-nil.
Early in the second half the home side wrapped up victory with a beautiful move. Firmino's backheel set up Salah who got the goal his performance deserved as he slotted the ball into the bottom left corner for Liverpool's third. Soon after, Mane headed the ball wide from a Wijnaldum cross.
Jurgen Klopp's men really began to turn the screws as Salah smashed a shot against the bar after playing a one-two with Firmino. A great save by Liverpool goalie, Alisson, stopped Bournemouth's Lys Mousset from scoring a great consolation goal late in the game. Final score, 3-0 to Liverpool,
Liverpool Manager Klopp spoke to the BBC after the game saying, "We have high expectations and today we won in an impressive manner. We had some outstanding performances on the pitch. Goal number three was world class."
