Manchester City are set to play the second-leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against Schalke at the Etihad on Tuesday March 12th.
Pep Guardiola’s side are strong favourites to qualify for the quarter-finals after a 3-2 win in the first-leg on February 20th. A late free kick from former Schalke star, Leroy Sane, and an injury time winner from Raheem Sterling gave City the victory away in Germany. The three away goals mean the German side will need to win by a two goal margin or score at least three goals in Manchester to win the tie.
City will have Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, Fernandinho and Claudio Bravo all missing through injury. Nicolas Otamendi will be suspended, and Fabian Delph is considered a doubt. Sane is expected to start against his former club after being rested during the weekend win against Watford.
Schalke will have both Daniel Caligiuri and Omar Mascarell missing the game with injury. Mark Uth and Amine Harit have both not travelled with the squad due to disciplinary issues but Hamza Mendyl is expected to return from injury.
