Manchester City vs Tottenham Preview

Tottenham travel to the Etihad to play the second-leg of the Champions League quarter final against Manchester City, on Wednesday April 16th. The Manchester club are a goal down after losing the first-leg 1-0 at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, on Tuesday April 9th.

Manchester City are going into the game with almost a fully fit team with only Oleksandr Zinchenko confirmed to be out and Fernandinho considered a major doubt. Bernardo Silva is expected to start after missing the first leg with a thigh injury.Kevin De Bruyne, who put in an impressive performance in the 3-1 victory away at Crystal Palace, is also expected to feature. 

Spurs, on the other hand, go into the game with a host of injuries. Harry Kane is out after suffering an ankle injury in the first-leg. Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Serge Aurier are also missing throughinjury. Dele Alli and Erik Lamela are considered doubtful andbothwill be assessed before the game. 

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, spoke at the pre-match press conference and, according to the BBC, called on the fans to make a great atmosphere. "We need them, without supporters we cannot go through. I am curious how our fans are going to be tomorrow." 

When asked on the possibility of facing former club Barcelona in the Champions League he said,"I don't think that far away… 

“I want to get to the semi-final and first to play a good game. That is the only dream I have right now…Mathematically we have qualified for the Champions League next season. We will be there. We will be in the draw in Monaco in August. I want to congratulate the team, the staff. 

"It doesn't matter what happens tomorrow as we will be there again." 

Mauricio Pochettino spoke at his pre-match press conference and Football.London reported that he praised his striker Son Heung-Min performances as well as his other forwards. “He’s doing a fantastic job. After November I am so happy with him. It’s not all about Son, it’s about the offensive players.” 

He also admitted his side would be facing a tough challenge but hopes their belief will get them through. “It’s going to be tough tomorrow as City are one of the best teams in the world. We have the belief and we will be strong. Tomorrow is going to be an amazing challenge.”
