Arsenal travel to Naples to face Napoli in the second leg of the Europa League quarter finals on Thursday April 18th. The Gunners won the first-leg by 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday April 11th. Two first-half goals from Aaron Ramsey and Lucas Torreira gave the Gunners a comfortable victory at home but judging by their dismal away record this season this tie is far from over.
Long-term absentees Hector Bellerin, Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding all remain out for the north London side. While Denis Suarez is also side-lined with a groin injury.
According to Sky Sports, Arsenal manager Unai Emery spoke at the pre-match press conference and said his side will go for victory despite being two goals ahead. "Our first target is to win, and after, of course, if we score, when you score playing matches like tomorrow's match, we can take a good advantage maybe with this goal.
"But we know it's going to be very difficult because they can score one goal, two goals. They can score more goals because they have a lot of attacking players with this quality."
Napoli are the only Italian club left in Europe this season and will be hoping to keep carrying the mantle. They will have close to a full-strength side with only defensive midfielder Amadou Diawara missing through injury.
Napoli Manager Carlo Ancelotti spoke at the pre-match press conference and, according to Reuters, said what he believes his side needs to overcome the two-goal deficit. “In three words, we need courage, intelligence and heart,” he said.
“I saw only a little courage in the early stages of the first game. Intelligence, I saw in both halves of the match. Heart is something we will put in tomorrow.”
The Italian manager said he is confident his side will make the semi-finals. “Napoli will put in a great display tomorrow - I believe we can do it.”
