The US military says nine members of Somalia’s al-Shabab extremist group have been killed in a US airstrike.
The airstrike, which took place on 30th November in the southern region of Somalia, targeted extremists who were hiding in a Bay region community, west of the capital Mogadishu.
The statement issued by the US military did not provide any further information regarding casualties or whether any civilians were wounded in the strike.
According to AP, the US military has carried out at least 37 airstrikes this year against the al-Qaida linked al-Shabab. The group is one of Africa's deadliest Islamic extremist groups.
