An outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in a herd of cattle in China was reported on Friday September 14th, by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture. The herd was transported to the Xinjiang region from Gansu province, according to Reuters.
The suspected outbreak was discovered by authorities on September 6th, with the confirmation that the diagnosis is of the O-type strain of the disease being revealed on Friday September 14th.
Consequently, the local government in Xinjiang culled 47 cattle. The ministry said that the outbreak is now under control.
