World heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr said the pressure is on Anthony Joshua ahead of their rematch in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, December 7th.
Ruiz Jr caused one of the biggest upsets in boxing history when he stopped Joshua in the seventh round of their bout in Madison Square Gardens, New York on June 1st.
The Mexican took the fight on four weeks' notice after original opponent Jarrell Miller had failed a drugs test. He was a heavy underdog going in and pulled off a memorable victory.
The win earned him WBA, WBO, and IBF world titles, and he also made history by becoming the first Mexican ever to hold a heavyweight world title.
Joshua activated a rematch clause, which was put in the contract when they first fought. The Brit wants to avenge the only defeat of his professional career and get his belts back.
AFP reported that Ruiz Jr claimed that the pressure is on Joshua since he has already achieved his goal.
"We've got to see where he's at because all the pressure is on him. The pressure isn't on me because I made my dreams come true," Ruiz said.
A win for Joshua would reinstate his heavyweight credentials and put him in line for massive fights with the likes of Tyson Fury and WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in 2019.
Joshua spoke to the BBC and said that he had to make changes after the first fight.
"I'm confident I'll be victorious, and when I am, I will tell everyone of what went wrong," he said.
