Spain's Supreme Court on Monday October 14th sentenced nine Catalan separatist leaders to between 9 and 13 years in prison for sedition over their role in the region's 2017 failed bid for independence, Reuters has reported.
The three other defendants were found guilty only of disobedience and not sentenced to prison.

Former Catalan vice president Oriol Junqueras, who was sentenced to 13 years, warned that the separatist movement will "come back even stronger."
"To those who are only driven by the will to do harm, we say to them that nothing ends today, you neither win nor convince...we will come back even stronger. We will come back and win," he wrote in a letter to his supporters from prison published by his ERC party.
