Sterling jumped late Wednesday to its highest level after British lawmakers refused to leave the EU without reaching an agreement.

Sterling hit a recent high of 1.39% to $1.326 after falling and rising during the week as the price moved in a range of 3.5 cents against the dollar.

The British currency is still below the intraday high of $1.328, which came in immediately after the vote as there is still uncertainty about the process and the next move.

The US dollar fell on Wednesday after new data on inflation boosted the possibility that interest rates would not be raised in the United States soon.
