The Emirati Foreign Ministry on Wednesday September 11th strongly condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement on the planned annexation of land from the Palestinian West Bank, should he be re-elected, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, stressed the UAE’s categorical rejection of the declaration, describing it as a dangerous escalation that violates all international resolutions.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed added that Netanyahu’s announcement totally ignores these legitimate resolutions as it undermines the efforts of the international community to achieve a peaceful resolution to the Palestinian cause and wastes decades of political efforts in this regard.

The Foreign Affairs Minister affirmed the UAE’s immediate and warm response to Saudi Arabia’s call for an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation to discuss Netanyahu’s declaration and develop an urgent plan of action, saying that the response to this disturbing development is a shared responsibility that requires action from the international community.
