The UAE has distributed over 177 tonnes of food aid to people in Mukalla, in Yemen's Hadramaut governorate, as part of its continued efforts to support the country's humanitarian needs, Emirati news agency WAM reported on Thursday October 10th.
Eleven thousand underprivileged people in Mukalla received around 2,200 food parcels distributed by the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, as part of the UAE’s efforts to ease their suffering and improve their living conditions.
The recipients thanked the UAE for its humanitarian gesture and expressed their appreciation for the ERC’s efforts of assistance.
So far, during the 'Year of Tolerance', the UAE has distributed 32,444 food baskets in total weighing around 2,622 tonnes to more than 162,000 people in the Hadramaut governorate.
On Wednesday, over 80 tonnes in food aid was distributed in Hadramaut.
Five thousand people across the western neighborhouds of Mukalla received the aid.
In September, the UAE distributed more than 50 tonnes of relief assistance to people in Tarim, also in Yemen's Hadramaut governorate, as part of its efforts to support the country's humanitarian and developmental needs. Here, 3,250 needy families received 650 food baskets from the ERC.
