United Arab Emirates senior national football team lost to their counterpart in Thailand away from home in the third round of the Group G games in the AFC 2022 World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, October 15th.

Muangthong United FC striker Teerasil Dangda opened the scoring for his national team Thailand in the 28th minute to give the hosts an early lead.

Al-Jazira striker Ali Mabkhout snatched the draw for the UAE team one minute before the break to finish the first half with a 1-1 draw between the two sides.

In the second half of the game, Ekanit Panya scored the winner for Thailand in the 51st minute.

The UAE national team’s players caused problems for the hosts as they did their best to make a comeback in the game, but Thailand’s defence denied their efforts.

Thailand are leading the Group G rankings with seven points, sharing the same points with second placed Vietnam.

United Arab Emirates are third in the group’s rankings with six points after playing two games, as they achieved victories in two games, with a 2-1 win over Malaysia away from home as well as smashing Indonesia 5-0 last week.

UAE’s national team will face Vietnam in the fourth round of the qualifiers in November, and then they will host Thailand in June 2020.
