United Nations human rights boss Michelle Bachelet on Saturday November 16th warned that the situation in Bolivia could go "out of control," as the police use of excessive force represented a grave development, AFP reported.

Bachelet urged Bolivian authorities to deal with the matter according to the international norms and standards, and to fully respect human rights.

The Legislative Assembly of Bolivia has received a resignation letter from president Evo Morales on Monday November 11th, an official at the Vice Presidential office said.

Clashes on Friday November 15th between Bolivian security forces and protesters in central Bolivia left five supports of the former president dead, an AFP correspondent said.
