The United States Treasury Department on Thursday November 7th announced sanctioning three people from Central America’s Nicaragua, as part of a program to add pressures to the government of Daniel Ortega, Reuters reported.

The sanctioned individuals include Ramon Antonio Avellan Medal, Lumberto Ignacio Campbell Hooker and Roberto Jose Lopez Gomez, the treasury said.

The US condemns violations by Ortega’s government against democracy and the rule of law.

The European Union in October agreed a framework for sanctions against Nicaragua for the Central American government's abuses of human rights and repression, RTL Today reported.
