The US Senate passed a resolution on Thursday December 12th to recognise the 20th century Armenian genocide, in a step that refutes Turkey’s denial of the mass murder, Reuters reported.

As many as 1.5 million Armenians died in the genocide between 1915 and 1917.

While Turkey insists that the Armenian victims died due to World War I, the resolution passed by both the House and the Senate refutes the claims.
