Tottenham kept up the pressure on Chelsea in the race for the Champions League spots after securing a late win over Wolves on December 15th.

Spurs took the lead just eight minutes into the game. Lucas Moura dribbled past two Wolves defender to get in the box and score into the roof of the net to put his team ahead.

Wolves attempted to equalise almost immediately as Adama Traore forced Paulo Gazzaniga into a save before Raul Jimenez fired an effort wide of the goal.

Towards the end of the first half, a mistake by Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio almost led to a second goal as Eric Dier struck an effort against the post.

The victory moves the north London side up to fifth in the table just three points behind fourth-place Chelsea. AFP reported that Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho praised his side for the hard-fought victory.

"Three incredible points. We coped with their spirit. At 1-1, Wolves are not a team satisfied with a point. But we knew if we arrive in the last part of the match we could score," Mourinho said.
