Mexico took a big step towards the knockout stages of the World Cup after an impressive 2:1 win over South Korea; all they need is a point against Sweden in their final Group F game to guarantee progress.

Having upset defending champions Germany in their opening game, Mexico saw Javier Hernandez score his 50th international goal after taking the lead through Carlos Vela’s first half penalty, the 14th of the tournament so far.

South Korea's only threat came from Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min who gave his side fleeting hope in added time with a curling strike from 25 yards.
