Police on Friday 11 May defused a World War II bomb, found on a construction site in Hong Kong’s Wan Chai district.

Officials said the unexploded American 1,000-pound (450 kilogram) bomb, found by a construction worker, was the third dug up at the site since January.

As AP reported, police evacuated workers, office staff and residents until the officers were able to defuse the explosive.

The bombs are believed to have been dropped during World War II by Allied aircraft fighting Japanese occupation forces.
