The 11th and 12th seeds, Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev, were knocked out of the main draw of Wimbledon 2026. Both players exited the tournament already in the first round.
Ruud faced Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, ranked No. 96 in the world, in his opening match. The Norwegian ran into trouble already in the first set: at 3–3, Ruud lost two consecutive games, allowing Hurkacz to take the set 6–4.
In the second set, Hurkacz continued his momentum, winning it 6–2. In the decisive third set, the Polish player eliminated Ruud in a tiebreak.
Another upset occurred in the match between two “neutral” players — Andrey Rublev and Roman Safiullin. The match went the full five sets, and the winner was decided in a super tiebreak, where Safiullin came out on top.
