Abu Dhabi has been working on ways to develop the energy industry and contribute to a better future, with Abu Dhabi as the world’s energy capital, Minister of Energy and Industry Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei said on September 9th.
Speaking about the 24th World Energy Conference 2019 in an interview with WAM, he said it includes 150 states who will play a major role in reforming the energy industry. They will discuss all the challenges facing them and the opportunities up for grabs. The Conference is being held from September 9th to 12th under the auspices of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
On developing the UAE energy sector, Al Mazrouei said the UAE is working on achieving its UAE Energy Strategy 2050 through investments in the areas of electricity, water desalination, and renewable energy. He said solar panels will raise electricity production by 44 gigawatts.
Al Mazrouei also spoke about Saudi Arabia’s determination to bring stability to the global oil market, affirming that KSA has capable leadership. On the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee, OPEC+, he said, "We wish that the meeting will result in recommendations for the next ministerial meeting to enhance the stability of the global oil market and balance supply and demand."
