The Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) revealed its programme on November 4th through a press conference at Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel.
The CIFF organising committee announced the details of its 41st edition, running from November 20th to 29th, including the edition’s official poster and the list of films participating in the festival’s official competition or on the side.
Over 150 films are planned to be screened during CIFF, and 30 of them will be international premiers.
CIFF announced Mexico as the country in focus. According to CIFF President Mohamed Hefzy, several resemblances between Mexican and Egyptian cinemas can be detected throughout the previous decades.
Hefzy referred to the fact that two of the most important Mexican film-scripts were based on novels by Naguib Mahfouz.
Mexican Ambassador to Egypt Jose Octavio Tripp expressed his gratitude on behalf of the Mexican Embassy for CIFF’s positive stance towards the cinema industry in Mexico.
