Shanu S. P. Hinduja is Chair of the board of the Hinduja Bank in Switzerland and a powerful international businesswoman. Educated both in India and in the UK and a scion of the influential Hinduja family she is a firm believer in gender equality as an aid to successful international business. Whether boards are dominated by women or by men there needs to be a better gender balance.

Why? In her considerable experience, men and women board members bring different qualities to board discussions which leads to better decision making and greater public trust in the company.

She feels that India’s relationship with Britain is strong enough to overcome any Brexit doubts, due to the large number of residents of Indian origin and Indian businesses in Britain and the long international business relationship. However, she would like British partners to respect more the point of view of their Indian equivalents and for both sides to take into account each other’s point of view. This will help ensure a single co-ordinated approach, she says, achieving greater success.
