Moscow is hosting a harvest festival, the Golden Autumn food festival from October 4th to 13th, the Russian news agency TASS has reported.

The theme of this year's festival is innovation in agriculture. There are 1,500 festival sites throughout the city.

At the festival venues, people have the opportunity to buy the best Russian farm products, to sample dishes from a special seasonal menu, learn about the traditional cuisine of various Russian regions and attend free folk concerts.

Participants from all over Russia will bring over 250 tons of produce to Moscow in the course of the festival, including 230 types of fish and seafood, 120 types of cheese and dairy products, 100 types of meat and meat delicacies and over 100 varieties of vegetables and fruit, according to RIA Novosti.

The largest festival venue will open in Red Square. A rural landscape will be recreated, and festival guests will see a Russian field, a wild garden where trees and berries grow, a pasture with wooden animal sculptures, an apiary with real beehives and a mill.

The festival will host more than 450 culinary master classes. Experienced chefs will teach visitors how to prepare autumn dishes from seasonal vegetables, as well as national dishes from Russian regions and European countries. In addition, there will be a menu from the Russian Middle Ages and dishes that were popular during Soviet times and at Young Pioneer camps.

Moscow citizens and visitors to the capital will be taught how to cook a pie with Siberian berries, a Far Eastern salad with sea delicacies, pumpkin cream soup, and Lipetsk strudel.
