Do you want a thick and creamy cup of hot chocolate? Warming and rich, a luxury all in itself? Perhaps you’d like it to be almost a dessert, like chocolate custard?
But it’s vegan-uary and you can’t possibly find a hot chocolate that rich without dairy. Or maybe you are trying to be healthy.
Well, have no fear, we have your back. This is thick and creamy and almost vegan. (Swap out the honey for maple syrup and you are good to go.)
Technically, this recipe serves one, but it could very easily serve two. Multiply it by however many you want to feed and it’s perfect for entertaining on a cold night.
1 mug of oat milk
1 heaped tsp of cocoa powder
2 tsp of honey
2 squares of dark chocolate
A dash of nutmeg
A dash of cinnamon
This hot chocolate is probably one of the easiest things to make.
Place a small saucepan on medium heat and pour in the honey and cocoa powder. Mix together with a wooden spoon until a thick paste is formed, then add a splash of milk to the mixture and stir together.
Pour in the rest of the milk, then break up the chocolate into small pieces and throw them in. Stir together until everything is completely combined.
Finally, add the spices and then stir, bringing the hot chocolate to a simmer. After five minutes, remove from the stove. Carefully pour into a mug, and there it is, ready to serve!
