Right-side defender Dani Alves posted a video to let fans know he is at peace despite his knee injury that will keep him from playing in the World Cup in Russia.
Published on Saturday, the Brazilian said in the video that he wants fans and teammates to take nothing but good energies from him.
"Maybe my ego is a bit hurt right now, but my soul is at peace because I always tried to do my best," Alves said in his social media channels.
Alves injured his right knee Tuesday during the French Cup final that ended in victory for his team, Paris Saint-Germain, where he plays with Brazil’s star forward Neymar.
PSG said his anterior cruciate ligament detached, and the Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed in a statement Friday that he will need surgery.
Brazil’s national team, which hold the record for five World Cup wins, will announce their 2018 squad on Monday in Rio de Janeiro.
