Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been awarded an honorary professorship by China’s Tsinghua University for his initiatives and role in supporting advanced science, technology and innovation, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The title of Honorary Professor is considered the most prestigious certificate granted by the 108-year old university to leaders and presidents.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed became an honorary professor on Tuesday July 23rd during his official visit to Beijing. The award was also for his role in promoting friendship relations and cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the People's Republic of China.
“I was delighted to visit Tsinghua University where I met its outstanding management team and students. The university plays a prominent role in promoting quality education, scientific research and supports the progress of China and the development of mankind,” Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed wrote on Twitter.
Tsinghua University's Vice President Yang Bin welcomed the visit of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to the University and paid tribute to his role in promoting bilateral ties and cooperation between the UAE and China, especially concerning science, culture, development, technology and innovation.
Yang Bin highlighted the special relations between the two countries, which have helped enhance the Sino-Arab relations in general.
