The Emmy Award-winning actor, Rip Torn, died on Tuesday 9th July at the age of 88, according to media reports obtained by Reuters.
His family told the Hollywood Reporter magazine and other media that Torn died peacefully at his home.
Torn's career recently flourished in television appearances such as The Larry Sanders Show and successful films such as Men in Black and Dodgeball.
One of Torren's impressive roles was his role in 1984's Cross Creek and he was nominated for an Oscar.
According to media reports, the cause of death was not disclosed but with him at the time of his death were his daughters and his wife, actress Amy Wright, who is best known for her role in Stardust Memory and The Occidental Tourist.
His family and agent were not immediately available for comment.
