Brazilian President-elect Jair Bolsonaro said Monday that the Brazilian people, who have not been under military rule since 1985, "do not know what dictatorship is."The former army officer made this remark after a telephone conversation with the Hungarian prime minister, conservative and strongly hostile to immigrants.
"The Brazilian people still do not know what dictatorship is and do not know what the suffering is."
Bolsonaro, the leader of the far right, is due to take over power on January 1st and has already selected three members of his cabinet from the army, including General Fernando Azivido de Silva, who has been appointed defence minister.
A military dictatorship ruled Brazil from 1964-1985.
