British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday, August 25th, told US President Donald Trump that Britain backed "trade peace" and freedom of trade amid escalating tensions between the United States and China, according to AFP.

"Just to register a faint, sheep-like note of our view on the trade war. We are in favour of trade peace on the whole," Johnson told Trump, while congratulating him on the strength of the US economy.

Johnson added: "The UK has profited massively in the last 200 years from free trade."
