An official from the Oromia region in Ethiopia said a military helicopter crash on Thursday has killed all 18 passengers on board. The crash in the Nana area of Ethiopia’s largest regional state happened around 11:30 thereby killing 15 military personnel and three other civilians on board.
“The helicopter crashed as it was flying from the city of Dire Dawa to an air base in Bishoftu town,” Addisu Arega, an official in the Oromia region said. “All the 18 passengers on board the aircraft have died.”
As reported by the Associated Press, other officials in Oromia said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
In 2013, an Ethiopian cargo plane crash-landed in Mogadishu’s airport, killing four people.
