French President Emmanuel Macron on Sunday September 15th mourned the death of the late President's Caid Essebsi’s widow, Mrs Shazlia Essebsi, and expressed appreciation for the Tunisian people's keenness on freedom and democracy.
“We were sad to hear that while polling stations in Tunisia were preparing to get the doors open for the first round of the Presidential Election, the late President's Caid Essebsi’s widow, Mrs Shazlia Essebsi, had passed away. I would like to express the French people's condolences and sympathies to our friends, the Tunisian people. In the meantime, we all appreciate your keenness on freedom and democracy. Speaking for my wife and myself, I would also like to express our condolences to the Essebsi family,” said Macron.
