The International Institute of Agricultural and Food Market Services in Italy announced on Tuesday that the country's olive oil production in 2018 will fall significantly due to changing weather conditions, reports AFP.
Olive oil Production is estimated to have fallen by nearly 38 percent, resulting in a decrease from 430,000 tonnes to 265,000 tonnes last year.
The institute said weather conditions this year were especially unfavorable, specifically "snow in March" in Puglia, the main oil producing region of Italy.
It is also mentioned in the sequence of years. If this year is "good" in terms of production, the next year is expected to be worse.
In order to obtain a clearer picture of production, it is necessary to wait until late November, since the olive harvest begins around 15 October, according to the Institute.
