A major global contest to provide a better future using robotics and artificial intelligence, held in Dubai, has been won by a young team from the United Arab Emirates. The team won three matches in the first day of the ‘2019 FIRST Global Robotics Challenge,' the Emirates News Agency reported on Friday October 25th.
The UAE team came in the list of the best 15 teams in the competition, with China’s team top by the end of the first day.
The competition is being held for the first time in the Arab world, after previously being held in the US and Mexico. The third contest of the FIRST Global Robotics Challenge brought together more than 1,500 students, aged 14 to 18 from 191 countries around the world, from October 24th to 27th, at the Festival Arena in Dubai, to collaborate, create and compete for a better future.
The FIRST Global DXB Challenge is a global event in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence which brings together talented young people with a passion for science, technology, and engineering.
Organised by the Dubai Future Foundation, under the theme “ocean opportunities,” the challenge focuses on developing technologies to help clean up the millions of tons of pollutants in the oceans, which adversely affect the marine environment.
The challenge will enable young people to acquire the tools, skills and expertise to design robots, shape their individual futures, and solve global problems.
